In the past issues, we mostly had poems that revolved around death, loss, pain, and heartbreaks. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I’d like to do something different for our December issue. To spice up the holidays, I’ve come up with a lively combination of some upbeat music and impressive artwork. Music will be provided by Steve Rice, a jazz performer who has had his original work in tv programs such as The Big Bang Theory, Gotham, Limitless, Mindy Project, Sons of Anarchy, and The Voice. The artwork has been contributed by the talented Paresh Tiwari, the resident cartoonist of United Haiku and Tanka Society. All you have do is get into your jazzy mood and add a sprinkle of humor in your poems. Let’s see if you can tickle my funny bone. Send me your haiku/senyru or tanka/kyoka as stand-alone poems or poems to be paired with the images I’ve just posted on the Artwork section.
